AMAG Technology hosted its 14th annual Security Engineering Symposium (SES) in San Diego, California at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa on February 20-23, 2015. A case study themed event created greater understanding and engagement for security engineers, integrators, and end users, prompting lively discussion. Guests experienced a weekend of educational seminars, networking and engagement with experts about trends, end user expectations and experiences and technology integrations.

AMAG conducted educational sessions about SymmetryCONNECT™ and Symmetry™ Professional Services. Chief Operating Officer, Howard Johnson held an interactive feedback session about market trends and product vision. Break-out sessions offered attendees opportunities to learn about NERC CIP regulations, Symmetry Video, and end user case studies from the security engineering viewpoint.

“We structured the Security Engineering Symposium with shorter sessions that kept the pace moving and attendees in engaged,” said AMAG Technology, Vice President of Business Development, Jody Ross.  “The consultants, integrators and end users really liked the case study formatted breakout sessions which were full of discussion and questions.  Optional breakout sessions allowed attendees to select tracks that interested them.  They were well-received and we hope to bring that back next year.”

Educational presentations and break-out sessions were given by several technology partners: AlertEnterprise, ASSA ABLOY, HID Global, NEC, Salient Systems, Vingtor-Stentofon, Winsted, Arecont, Entertech, OnCam Grandeye, Traka and Windy City Wire.

“The event this year was absolutely phenomenal, and I think it was the best format AMAG has had since I started coming many years ago,” said Security Risk Management Consultants, President, Chad Parris. “What I really liked was the structure of the educational portion of the event where we got to hear from not only AMAG, but many of their industry leading integration partners.  The SES gave me the opportunity to not just learn, but to also network with peer industry consultants and leaders.”

The strategic technology partners who sponsored the event valued the interaction with the consultants, integrators, end users, AMAG staff and other partners.

“The AMAG SES is one of the best events I have ever attended,” said AlertEnterprise, CEO, Jasvir Gill. “It was really well organized with the scheduling and activities, but the best part was the AMAG staff itself. Everyone we met was very kind and friendly, and I think these are the kind of partners you want to have. It’s a great culture as a company. As a partner I can’t find a better example than AMAG when it comes to a great partner.”

“By far this has been the best SES since I have been coming to the event. Simply put, the addition of end users is helping drive more engaging questions and conversations.  Compound that with the new case study based format and you will see that it has helped draw out questions that are providing more relevance to the problems we came here to solve. The attendees that come to SES are looking for more than what we know but what we can do with what we know, collaboratively.” Ben Williams, Technical Applications Manager for A&E’s at ASSA ABLOY.

Dan Rothrock, Senior VP OEM Global Accounts, Vingtor-Stentofon said, “This is our 14th SES, and every year it is unique.  This year, I was impressed by the use of technology in the presentations and the live feedback received via tweeting and engagement in the breakout sessions.  Over 60 percent of attendees are new, which really excites us because this event is the best platform for educating consultants about integrating or working with end users and VARS at the same time.  The breakout sessions were lively and engaging.  We come here with certain expectations and every year those expectations are either met or exceeded.  I am excited about coming back next year.”
